Students work with clients, both local and national, to apply analytical techniques to real-world data, gaining practical skills in data collection, analysis, and visualization, while addressing real business challenges and providing actionable insights.

Students work with the UE and Evansville community to produce a bilingual podcast that shares and celebrates the stories of the bilingual population.

CHNG 310-03 Chemistry Club Outreach
Coach: Dr. Roslyn Lampkins
In this course, students in the UE Chemistry Club design and create a collection of engaging, age-appropriate chemistry experiments for students of various grade levels. The students will develop interactive, safe, and educational hands-on activities that they can take to local schools and community events, fostering a love for science and enhancing public understanding of chemistry.

CHNG 310-06 UE United Sound (Honors available)
Coach: Dr. Melissa Heffner
UE students (Mentors) work with students with disabilities from the community (New Musicians) to teach them how to read music and play an instrument. This culminates in a performance with the UE Symphony Orchestra.

CHNG 310-16 Honoring the Past: Collaborative
Coach: Tory Schendel-Vyvoda
In this course, students will collaborate with the Evansville African American Museum, the Cultural Resource Analysis, INC, and the Vanderburgh Historical Society to organize a reburial ceremony for the individuals accidentally discovered at the McGary's Burial Ground during the 2023 Evansville Water and Sewer Utility construction project. Students will collaborate with community members and professionals to plan a reburial ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery, which is tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2025, assist in drafting text for the grave marker, learn from guest speakers who are professional archaeologists, historians, and cultural heritage professionals, and use the ongoing Greenlawn Cemetery situation in Indianapolis as a case study for this initiative. This project is funded by the Black Heritage Preservation Program, Indiana Landmarks.

CHNG 310-17 Transformative Action: TASL Scholars Only

This is an experiential learning opportunity in which students complete real-world projects for start-ups or organizations (business, not-for-profit, civic, or educational). In this section, TASL scholars will develop an initiative that fosters inclusive community among UE students with an aim to launch the initiative in the Fall of 2025.

CHNG 310-18 Restoration Ecology at Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve
Coach: Dr. Cris Hochwender
This course engages students in the practical and theoretical aspects of native plant restoration, focusing on seed propagation, stakeholder collaboration, and ecological stewardship. Students will germinate and grow seeds for 20–40 meadow plant species, cultivating as many as possible in the greenhouse. Collaborating with stakeholders such as Wesselman Woods Nature Preserve, National Park Service, Evansville Parks & Rec, and UE-ECO, the class will plant native species in the WWNP prairie and meadow. Students may also pursue additional projects, such as submitting a non-monetary resolution developed in a prior semester, while contributing to meaningful ecological restoration efforts.

CHNG 310-19 Campus Improvement
Coach: Dr. Hyunsoung Park
This course will focus on causing a positive impact on campus through surveying students and faculty, proposing new ideas, and fundraising.

CHNG 310-D01 Transformative Action (Honors available)
Coach: Erin Lewis
ASYNCHRONOUS ONLINE COURSE: Class does not have set meeting days and times. This course is a place where students can individually move their projects forward, or work in teams to make an impact. Students will pick their own passion projects and support each other in the process.

CHNG 310-H08 Reimagining Honors (Honors only)
Coach: Dr. Diane Brewer
Reimagine what the Honors Program looks like for a modern generation. Activities, projects, housing, etc., all ideas will be on the table. In this ChangeLab, you will have an opportunity to have a voice in what this distinctive program looks like. Students will brainstorm, organize, and manage events for Honors Program students. Coursework may also include research into Honors Program best practices and development of innovative ideas for the future of the program.

CHNG 310-S02 Latino Community Outreach
Coach: Dr. Cindy Crowe (2024 ChangeLab Coach of the Year)
Students will explore ideas and work collaboratively with different organizations to meet the needs of the local Latino community. Examples of outreach include working with providers to meet the healthcare needs of Latinos, tutoring English language learners, promoting Latino culture and Spanish language in after-school programs.

CHNG 310-Y02 The Future of UE’s Archives (Honors available)
Coach: Dr. Kristen Strandberg
Help create plans for Archives and Special Collections at the UE Library! Students will conduct research, dig into the archives, talk to UE community members about their needs, and consider the ideal space for our unique collections. Some students will also design renderings of potential spaces and design a pitch for fundraising.

CHNG 310-Y05 UE Theatre’s Rogue & Peasant Aces
Coach: Wes Grantom
Students in this course work to provide greater access to Shakespeare in the tristate area. Our students would rehearse a piece of Shakespeare that fits into school curriculums and handle the outreach needed to bring the work into the community. The team also collaborates with UE Theatre productions to develop themed outreach concepts.
